快猫视频 Annual Report Highlights Importance of Access to Justice

Washington, DC鈥 The 快猫视频 (快猫视频) today released its 2010 Annual Report, highlighting efforts by the nation鈥檚 single largest funder of civil legal assistance to promote equal access to justice.

鈥溈烀ㄊ悠-funded programs address the civil legal needs of victims of domestic violence, veterans returning from abroad, disabled individuals, families facing foreclosure, and other low-income Americans,鈥 快猫视频 Board Chairman John G. Levi writes in the Annual Report. 鈥淓very day, the lawyers and staff at these programs work hard to ensure that clients are treated with fairness in the resolution of their legal problems and that low-income Americans have a place to turn for help in managing their civil legal needs.鈥

In 2010, 快猫视频-funded programs closed 932,406 civil legal aid cases, including more than 321,000 cases involving family law issues, such as domestic violence, and more than 235,000 cases involving housing matters, such as evictions.

快猫视频 President James J. Sandman writes in the Annual Report that 鈥溈烀ㄊ悠 is the bedrock on which our national system of access to civil justice stands鈥攁nd its foundation for the future. . . . I can think of no more important objective of our legal system than to provide meaningful access to justice.鈥

快猫视频 (快猫视频) is an independent nonprofit established by Congress in 1974. For more than 50 years, 快猫视频 has provided financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. The Corporation currently provides funding to 129 independent nonprofit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
