¿ìèÊÓƵ is funded through an annual appropriation from Congress and distributes resources to legal aid organizations that serve every congressional district to ensure help reaches those who need it most. The majority of ¿ìèÊÓƵ’s budget directly supports local communities through:
- Grants to Legal Aid Organizations – Over 94% of ¿ìèÊÓƵ’s congressional appropriation directly funds nonprofit legal aid organizations that provide critical legal services to Americans facing civil legal issues.
- Grantee Oversight & Compliance – ¿ìèÊÓƵ conducts oversight reviews of all grantees to ensure every dollar is used appropriately. Additionally, ¿ìèÊÓƵ offers extensive training to grantees to ensure programmatic, regulatory and fiscal compliance with congressional requirements.
- Innovations & Initiatives – ¿ìèÊÓƵ invests in technology and innovative solutions to improve service delivery and increase access to justice.
