In this case study, learn how Pine Tree Legal Assistance pioneered an innovative medical-legal partnership with the veteran healthcare system in Maine.

Pine Tree Legal Assistance's Veteran Medical-Legal Partnership Model

Grantees will learn how Pine Tree Legal Assistance (PTLA):

Tailored the traditional medical-legal partnership (MLP) model to meet rural veterans' needs;
Diversified the Veteran MLP funding to sustain the program; and
Worked closely with veteran healthcare staff to help them identify patients' health-harming legal needs.

Hear from PTLA Managing Attorney Nicole Golden-Bouchard and Veteran MLP attorney Dylan Maeby about their insights and replicable practices for providing statewide assistance to veterans.

Join the ��è��Ƶ (��è��Ƶ) on Zoom for our annual Veterans Day program, Monday, November 13, 2023, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. This year’s event highlights the legal needs of Veterans who are unhoused or at risk for homelessness. Building on the work of ��è��Ƶ’s Veterans Task Force, we’ll hear from legal services providers, homelessness advocates, policymakers and leaders from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

If you are interested in learning more about the legal issues that make it difficult for Veterans to obtain or maintain stable housing and possible solutions, register here.

The program also will be livestreamed on ��è��Ƶ’s Facebook page and a recording will be available on our YouTube channel shortly after the event.

This year, in collaboration with our Veterans Task Force and Rural Justice Task Force, ��è��Ƶ celebrates the work of legal aid practitioners and partners, throughout the country, who serve the unique needs and interests of Veterans residing in rural communities. Join us as our panelists discuss common barriers in many rural settings, issues such as geographic and social isolation, weaker infrastructure, and the low density of legal aid and other human services providers, and the outsized impact these challenges have on the rural Veteran population.
